The Full Story

Hi there! I'm Kat Leander (she/her)👋🏾
I was born and raised in Chicago, IL., currently residing in NYC. I descend from Guyanese parents and am very proud of my Caribbean-American heritage. My career spans across many industries including human resources, customer service, fitness, and culinary arts.
For most of my life, I struggled with confidence. I didn’t believe I deserved happiness. I chose safe paths instead of passionate ones, working to survive. Culinary school was one of those choices, and the stress soon found a home in my body as back pain. Six months in, I suffered a major spine injury. Still, I kept pushing through jobs that didn’t fulfill me, while my body carried the weight of emotions I refused to face.
In 2022, another devastating injury forced me to stop. The pain was unbearable, and during the six weeks before surgery, I was at my breaking point.
Then, a friend handed me a book called I Can Do It by Louise Hay. That small act changed everything. The book opened my eyes to mindfulness, metaphysics, and the deep connection between mind and body.
As I began to heal inside, something shifted. By the time I entered the operating room, I wasn’t afraid anymore. I felt calm, present, and—for the first time—at peace. It was the beginning of my healing, not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually too. Finally, I felt like I deserved to live a life I love.
